Kind gesture to veteran speaks well of community

To the editor:

On Jan. 25 I was at the RMV in Pittsfield getting tags for my new (to me) truck. While paying, I asked how much more veteran plates would be. The lady told me it would be $40 every two years. The guy at the teller next to me, who looked to be in his 30s, handed my teller $40, said he had the first two years, shook my hand and said "thank you for your service"!

This truly made my day! With all the negative stories we hear in Pittsfield I wanted to share my story and give people hope that caring, giving and love will prevail. The majority of our community are good people so don't let the bad ones take precedence in our thoughts.

To the man who paid it forward, I want you to know that still today I'm very appreciative and waiting patiently for the next unsuspecting stranger who I can commit a random act of kindness to, as you did for me!
