Capable Rep. Mark ready for Senate move

To the editor:

I was pleased to read that state Rep. Paul Mark is considering a run for the state Senate in Clarence Fanto's recent Sunday column. I would strongly urge Rep. Mark to run. In the Senate he would continue the same enthusiastic representation of the district and our issues that we have become accustomed to from Sen. Downing.

Rep. Mark has a record of strong support for working families. He understands that a viable middle class is the backbone of any community. Rep. Mark uses his role as a legislator to uplift his constituents, providing services for those in need.

He is a skilled negotiator who is able to respect other's points of view while still advocating for those that will benefit his district. If Rep. Mark chooses to run, the district will benefit from his world view and his expertise.

During his time in the legislature, Paul Mark has done what he has in each job he ever held. He has worked tirelessly. He has proven that he values those who send him to Boston and does his very best each day for all of us. Rep. Mark never takes constituents for granted and strives to earn and earn again every person's vote. Although he has only been in the legislature for three terms, he has garnered the respect of his colleagues and that of the leadership in the State House.

As a senator, Mark would be able to build upon his successes and provide for all of us in the 52 towns in the senatorial district the same conscientious representation those in the Second Berkshire District have come to expect. Rep. Mark has the intelligence, skill set, and motivation to be a wonderful state senator.
