Backing Hillary because of her qualifications
To the editor:
I have been a supporter of Hillary Clinton since her husband was president. She has the tenacity and the best background, experience and intelligence to be our next president. The fact that she would be the first woman president actually has very little to do with why I support her. Bernie Sanders has much to be admired but doesn't have the qualifications, background or experience to lead our country.
I am dismayed by the comments made by Madeleine Albright and Gloria Steinem regarding the "duty" of young women to vote for Hillary because she's a woman. She is so much more than that. Young women of today are much more advanced and thoughtful about their "duties" than to vote for a candidate just because she's a woman.
And I would hope the young men would listen more closely also, do some digging into the accomplishments of both candidates and draw the same conclusions as those voting for Hillary. The young people of today are just as idealistic as we were at a young voting age. As we grew older we realized that what a candidate said during a campaign could rapidly change once they were in office. It was the seasoned veteran who could follow through.
Listen carefully and you will see that while Bernie Sanders has a lot of great ideas, he doesn't explain how he would go about accomplishing them, or, if he does, he is unrealistic.
Please vote for Hillary Clinton on Super Tuesday, March 1.
