Don't fault Eagle for providing forum
To the editor:
I found a recent letter to editor from Aaron Biros very interesting on several levels.
First, Mr. Biros states that he is "disgusted, but not surprised" that The Eagle would print a letter from Robin Greenspan stating an opinion on a recent editorial about gay conversion therapy. I have no strong opinion one way or the other on this subject, but I find it ironic that Biros chides Greenspan for stating an opinion, then proceeds to do the same thing.
That is exactly what a letter to the editor is. It is a forum for people to be able to express their personal views on any particular subject. You may not agree with everything that is written, but don't fault The Eagle for printing a letter in a section of the paper that is designed specifically for that purpose.
I also find it interesting that Mr. Biros states that people seeking a cure for unwanted same-sex attraction are "ignorant bigots who are offended by homosexuality", but then feels the need to proclaim that he is not gay.
While I mostly agree with the overall tone of your letter, that one little declaration makes it that much less credible. But that's just my opinion.
