Mt. Greylock proposal is plainly right path
To the editor:
Our families write both as parents of Mount Greylock Regional High School graduates and as former Lanesborough members of its School Committee to report first, that the school had a major positive impact on our children's lives and second, that since it was built, Lanesborough has been a major force in insisting on the school's high academic standards and its responsibility to its students.
Rejecting or delaying approval of the proposed building plan in the hope of avoiding a tax increase is unrealistic because the costs of repair to the current building will then have to be borne without state aid. Worse, the proposed schemes for affiliating with another district or a county-wide agreement are not only extremely iffy but, if successful, would very likely lessen the current high quality of schooling for our children.
We urge everyone in town, particularly those who have or will have children in the school system, to vote YES on Tuesday, March 15.
