GOP changing Court rules in middle of the game
To the editor:
It's the game of roulette. The wheel spins, the ball drops, and a winner is declared.
Now however, the house retrieves the ball and declares "no winner". "It is too close to closing time so we are changing the rules. New rules are: Players can not win during the last five minutes of the game even if the ball drops on their number."
Sadly, this is what the Republican Congress has declared to President Obama. You see, much like in the game of roulette the "wheel" spins during a president's term in office. The wheel in this case being the life cycle of a Supreme Court justice. When a justice dies during a president's term in office, it is like the ball is dropping on the president's number. He gets to name the next justice of the Supreme Court. For some presidents the ball doesn't drop. Their term ends with them never having had the chance to name a Supreme Court justice.
Mitch McConnell and the Senate Republicans must get over it. They lost in this game of chance and it is time to pay up, play fair. Abide by the Constitution of the United States.
