Adult Learning Program of BCC is key resource
To the editor:
Jenn Smith's March 10 article "BCC forum sheds lights on issues, resources for Latino students" featured the forum on Latin American history and the needs of Latino students very well. I want to highlight an important local resource for area Latino students that wasn't listed along with the article.
Berkshire Community College's Adult Learning Program (ALP) located at the institution's South County Center in Great Barrington offers a variety of services including English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes for free thanks to a Massachusetts Adult and Community Learning Services (ACLS) grant. Our mission is to provide every adult in the South Berkshire area with opportunities to develop literacy and other skills needed to qualify for further education, job training, more satisfying employment and to reach his or her full potential as a family member, productive worker, and citizen.
The Adult Learning Program focuses on education and career planning and benefits all students in whatever goals they plan to pursue. I encourage anyone who is thinking about going back to school, would like to improve their English, or simply would like to better themselves to learn more. For more information, visit www.berkshirecc.edu/alp, call 413-236-2174, or stop by the South County Center at 343 Main St. in Great Barrington.
