Help Camp Casco do its good work
To the editor,
Remember summer camp? For many of us, part of our summers were always spent at camp swimming in the lake, exploring nature, bunking down in the woods, munching on s'mores around the campfire, and just enjoying time to be a kid. Camp Casco, a free, week-long sleep-away camp for children ages 7-17 affected by pediatric cancer, invites all community members to join us as part of this year's Valley Gives Day on May 3 and help a group of very special kids make memories just like these.
Camp Casco's work is only possible with support of community members like you, making Valley Gives Day all the more important for our organization. Valley Gives is hosted by the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts, and is meant to encourage, celebrate and expand giving in the region.
We hope those interested in joining this year's May 3 day of giving will consider donating to Camp Casco. Our camp is held every summer at the YMCA Berkshire Outdoor Center in Becket and allows children of all ability levels to participate in traditional summer camp activities in the care of experienced camp counselors and a professional medical staff. It is our goal at Camp Casco that campers will shed their insecurities in a safe environment and forge new friendships with peers who share similar experiences. All of this is only possible with the help of generous donors, however.
Anyone interested in learning more about Camp Casco or contributing to this year's camp, taking place Aug. 22-27, can visit our Valley Gives fundraising page at valleygives.razoo.com/camp-casco.
From all of us at Camp Casco, including our very eager 2016 campers, thank you in advance for helping support a great Western Massachusetts cause!
