Long, cold summer
To the editor:
In the June 5 Eagle, under facts about the weather, it was stated that the Year Without A Summer occurred in 1815. New England had snow in June and hard freezes every month.
I always heard it was 1816, 200 years ago, and in checking the internet have ascertained that it was so. My great-great grandparents lived in Maine and were married in December of 1816, and I have always wondered how they survived.
