Kaepernick faults all for crimes of a few
To the editor:
While San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick has the right to refuse to stand up for the American flag, it calls into question his judgment.
His refusal is somewhat akin to a man who is bitten by a dog, gets very angry but then blames the wrong dog. Kaepernick doesn't realize that the flag represents the best of what Thomas Jefferson wrote in the Preamble to the Declaration of Independence: "We hold these truths to be self-evident — that all men are created equal."
There are more than 300 million people in the United States. Unfortunately, some are racists and bigots. They are not what our flag represents. I hope Kaepernick knows the guilty "dogs."
