ADAMS -- A Cheshire woman was treated for injuries and released from Berkshire Medical Center after her car slid off an icy road and into a ravine in Adams on Tuesday night.

The Adams Police Department said the accident was reported around 9:10 p.m. in the area of 152 West Road. Highway trucks had not yet gotten to the area to sand the roads.

Brittany Salvi was driving a 2000 Toyota Camry when the vehicle slid off the road.

"Last night was really nasty up here for road conditions. As soon as the rain hit, the roads were like a sheet of ice," said dispatcher Anthony Piscioneri.

Adams police and state troopers from the Cheshire barracks temporarily closed the road and worked with emergency response and towing crews to remove the vehicle from the scene.

Salvi was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and released from the emergency room.

West Road was open Wednesday morning.

Police departments from Pittsfield up into northern Berkshire County reported slippery road conditions in some areas on Wednesday morning, and encouraged commuters to take caution while driving.
