PITTSFIELD -- Police have arrested three people in connection with a shooting incident on John Street on Wednesday afternoon.

Nathaniel Marksman, 21, Christopher Grant 17, and a juvenile each have been charged with three counts of assault by means of a dangerous weapon and one count of vandalism.

It was not immediately known when the three will appear in court for their arraignments.

The three were arrested after witnesses at the scene provided investigators with their names and the first names of two additional subjects, police said. Additional information from follow-up witnesses provided partial clothing descriptions and a direction of travel.

Police on Wednesday had responded to the vicinity of 47 John St. for a report of shots fired at 3:38 p.m. Preliminary investigation by patrol officers and detectives indicated that multiple shots had been fired, and that a vehicle parked at the scene and had struck by one projectile. No one was hit by bullets.

The investigation is ongoing.
