WINDSOR -- One person was displaced by a fire that erupted in a single-family home on Monday afternoon, officials said.

Firefighters from nine different communities spent several hours battling the blaze at 520 Shaw Road, which began about 4 p.m. Crews were still on the scene late into the evening.

The resident, whose identity was not disclosed, was provided with financial resources by the Red Cross.

Approximately 40 firefighters from Windsor, Worthington, Savoy, Cummington, Dalton, Hinsdale, Peru, Plainfield and Cheshire responded to the fire, as well as representatives from the state Fire Marshall's office.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
