PHS class of 1947 plans 65th reunion

The Pittsfield High School class of 1947 will celebrate its 65th reunion on Sunday, Sept. 16, at 1 p.m. with a luncheon at the Pittsfield Country Club on South Street.

Monthly CPR class offered by BHS

The Berkshire Health Sys tems Education Depart ment is offering Cardio pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) classes to the community on a monthly basis throughout the year.

All classes are held at the Hillcrest Campus of Berk shire Medical Center in the Education Department class rooms. There is a fee of $45 for the program, which covers the cost of instruction and materials.

The next class is offered Friday, Aug. 17, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Pre-registration is required. To register, call the BHS Education Depart ment at (413) 447-2132.

Pittsfield:

City announces recreation program

The City of Pittsfield Dep artment of Community Dev elopment Recreation Prog ram has announced a new program called Pitts field Track and Field Games.

Pittsfield has teamed up with the YMCA, Berkshire Lightning and the Berkshire Running Center for this free program, which teaches youth the basics of track and field, including warm-ups and running and field components.

Games will take place Saturday, July 28, for children ages 9 to 14 at the Taconic High School track, 96 Valentine Road.

Registration and warm-ups will begin at 9 a.m., with events beginning at 9:30 a.m.

Lanesborough:

Library to host reptile program

The Lanesborough Public Library will host a free program by Rae Griffiths of Teaching Creatures at 3 p.m. on Thursday as part of the "Dream Big -- Read" summer reading program.

Griffiths will visit the library with a few reptiles and talk about their nighttime habits. This unique storytime program includes specially selected children's books and a presentation of two animal stars.

Greenville, N.Y.:

Vietnam vets reunion planned July 27-29

The 13th annual Northeast USA Vietnam Veterans Re union will take place Friday through Sunday, July 27 to 29, in a Greenville field located at 5143 Route 81 West, a half mile west of Route 32.

There be the annual memorial service at noon on Saturday featuring color guards, firing squads, guest speakers and patriotic music.

A special welcome is offered to Gold Star families, those now serving in the military, and all veterans and retired military personnel.

There are no fees and no vendors. The reunion provides food, soft drinks and entertainment thanks to the support of area residents, businesses and organizations.
