GREAT BARRINGTON -- A 51-year-old Pittsfield woman pleaded not guilty Thursday to charges that she operated a drug dealing operation out of the Price Chopper in Lenox, where she was employed.

Tammie J. Lee was arraigned on one count of possessing a class-B drug with intent to distribute and distributing a class-B drug.

Lee and Johanna L. Bartlett, 36, of Swamp Road in Richmond, were arrested Saturday outside the store following an alleged drug transaction in the employee lounge.

Police said they found Lee in possession of two Suboxone pills, nine amphetamine pills and 17 oxycodone pills. She was also carrying $463 in cash and what police described as a "drug consumption kit," which included a white straw.

The investigation, initiated by the store's loss prevention department, was prompted by complaints about Lee's behavior lodged by her fellow employees, according to court documents.

The store detectives videotaped alleged drug transactions and contacted Lenox police, according to a police report filed with the case.

Bartlett was arraigned Thursday on one count of possession of a class-B drug.

She admitted to sufficient facts for a guilty finding and the judge continued her case without a finding until Feb. 14, 2013.
