Supporters of a walk-able Great Barrington are invited to attend the GB Walk About from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22.
The diverse 3.5 mile walk will start at 9 a.m. at the Dubois Rain Garden on River Walk. The guided family-friendly walk provides a way to actively explore many of Great Barrington’s special places.
The Walk About route connects the Housatonic River with Main Street, neighborhood areas, accessible forest trails and Lake Mansfield. Walkers should wear sturdy shoes and bring a water bottle.
This is the third year Great Barrington Trails and Greenways will host this event. GB Trails is a collaborative group of natural resource and health organizations working to develop a town-wide interconnected trail system while improving and maintaining local trails.
This year, with the support of Housatonic Heritage, the group developed a new series of trail brochures which include maps and natural history information. These brochures and many other trail resources can be found at www.gbtrails.org.
