The Fire District Water Department will conduct its fall fire hydrant flushing program between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. on weekdays during the month of October.
This procedure is necessary to remove sediment build-up from the water mains and to check fire hydrants are in good working order in case of emergencies.
Water discoloration may occur during the flushing and can be cleared by running the tap water for five or 10 minutes, preferably from the tub spout. Before doing laundry or other projects, be sure the tap is clear. The water is safe to drink.
