David H. Smith, senior scholar in theology and medical ethics and senior lecturer in political science at the Yale Interdisciplinary Center for Bioethics, will speak on the ethics of physician-assisted suicide at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 4, in Griffin Hall, room 3, on the Williams College campus.
The talk, titled "Physician-Assisted Suicide: Needed? Risky? Rare?" is intended to encourage public debate around the statewide ballot initiative on physician-assisted suicide. The proposed Death with Dignity Act, if passed this November, will legalize physician-assisted suicide in Massachusetts.
