The Farm Bill: Wednesday, Oct. 17, 7 p.m., Speakers include Congresswoman Chellie Pingree; co-founder and director of Watershed Media, Dan Imhoff; and Ken Cook, president and co-founder of the Environmental Working Group.
Poetry and fiction series: Thursday, Oct. 18, 7:30 p.m., John Koethe, who has published eight books of poetry, presents at the Blodgett House.
Discovery Day: Visit Simon’s Rock on Saturday, Oct. 20, 9 a.m., at the Blodgett House to hear about academic and residential programs from the provost and deans, and to participate in tours, interviews, sample classes, and panels on financial aid and campus life. Adam Hochschild: To End All Wars: Tuesday, Oct. 23, 7 p.m., Noted journalist and historian Adam Hochschild, in his new book "To End All Wars," tells the poignant and insightful story of those who felt WWI was a noble and necessary crusade, and those courageous dissenters who believed the war was senseless and unjust at the McConnell Theater, Daniel Arts Center.
A Threepenny Opera Cabaret: Saturday, Oct. 27, 7:30 p.m., a Threepenny Opera Cabaret performed by Simon’s Rock voice students, accompanied by Larry Wallach, at the Black Box Theater, Daniel Arts Center.
Jazz Ensemble Preview: Saturday, Oct. 27, 9 p.m., the Simon’s Rock Jazz Ensemble presents a special preview of selections from their upcoming Winter Concert, under the direction of faculty member John Myers at the Kellogg Music Center.
Sophomore Seminar Film Screening: Monday, Oct. 29, 3:30 p.m., the showing of "Battleship Potemkin" with post-film comments by Larry Burke, faculty in film and video, at the McConnell Theater, Daniel Arts Center.
