The world premiere performance of "The Evolution of Rhythms," an original musical by Pittsfield musician and educator Jerome Edgerton Jr., takes place at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27, at Barrington Stage Company’s Boyd and Quinson Mainstage.
Youth Alive, along with other Berkshire County youth participants and special guest performers, portray changes in musical genres from the late 19th century through the present.
Edgerton is the recipient of Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation’s inaugural Tupelo Award, which helped fund his research and development of "The Evolution of Rhythms."
The Pittsfield Prevention Partnership will present their quarterly SAY It Proud Awards at the performance, recognizing young people who are involved in positive activities and making healthy choices. Recipients include Etienne Brou, Brittany Dewitt, Jessica Lojano, and Courtney Scarfo.
Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for seniors and students, and free for children under 12 years old. To order tickets, call the BSC box office at (413) 236-8888. They will also be available at the door.
