Rachel Konowitch, a freshman majoring in psychology at the University of Rochester, has been named to the dean’s list for academic achievement for the spring 2012 semester.

Konowitch, a resident of Richmond, is the daughter of Wendy Laurin and Jeff Konowitch, and a graduate of Monument Mountain Regional High School in Great Barrington.

Sarah Kinne of Sheffield, was named to the dean’s list of Emory College, the undergraduate, liberal arts college of Emory University in Atlanta, Ga., for the spring 2012 semester.

Students must be in the top 20 percent or have approximately a 3.859 grade point average or higher to be named to the dean’s list.

State University of New York, Cortland, has named the following area students to its dean’s list for the spring 2012 semester:

Seth Powell, a junior communication studies major from Chatham, N.Y.

Devlin Dizacomo, a senior exercise science major from Chatham, N.Y.

Honorees must earn a grade point average of 3.3 or higher on a 4.0 scale, while completing 12 or more credit hours of classes during the semester.

Edward D. Bertoldi and Holly G. Palardy, both of Pittsfield, have been named to second honors on the dean’s list at Clark University in Worcester. This selection marks outstanding academic achievement during the spring 2012 semester.

To be eligible for second honors, students must have a grade point average between 3.5 and 3.79, of a maximum of 4.3.

Worcester Polytechnic Institute has announced its dean’s list for the spring 2012 semester. Area students include:

Alexander Segala of North Adams, a junior majoring in mechanical engineering.

Michael Doyle of Dalton, a senior majoring in mechanical engineering.

Aaron Durkee of Pittsfield, a sophomore majoring in aerospace engineering.

Shaine Grogan of Peru, a junior majoring in civil engineering.

David Markham of Hinsdale, a junior majoring in mechanical engineering.

Benjamin Grossman-Ponemon of Pittsfield, a senior majoring in aerospace engineering.

The criteria for the WPI dean’s list differs from most other universities as WPI does not compute a grade point average. Instead, WPI defines the dean’s list by the amount of work completed at the A level in courses and projects.
