First United Methodist Church invites the public to attend its second annual dinner and auction on Saturday, Dec. 1, at the church, 55 Fenn St.
The doors open at 5 p.m. with entertainment by Mountain Breeze, a Lenox folk trio, during the social hour and silent bidding.
Following dinner, the live auction is set to begin at 7 p.m. and will feature local goods and services such as tickets to the Colonial Theatre, Barrington Stage, and a day’s sail on Narragansett Bay, R.I.; gift cards to restaurants, local grocers and department stores; plus a supply of homemade pies -- one per month -- for 12 months.
The dinner costs $15 per person and features an entree, salad and dessert.
Under the leadership of the Rev. Judith Kohatsu, this downtown congregation is the site of the Pearl Street Center, a collaborative effort with Berkshire Co-Act, providing job counseling, training, and support services for people who are homeless and unemployed.
The church is featured regularly on Pittsfield Community Television and offers spiritual guidance through community outreach to Habitat for Humanity families, area nursing homes and assisted living centers.
Every Tuesday, staff prepares Harvest Table dinners to anyone in need and their food pantry is open twice a month assisting families with free groceries.
