The Adams-Cheshire Regional School District will be conducting a developmental preschool screening for all Adams and Cheshire 3 and 4-year-olds on Monday and Thursday, March 11 and 14, at Cheshire Elementary School.
The purpose of the screening is to identify children who may have substantive needs in speech/language, cognitive/thinking, emotional/social, or physical development. Support services are delivered to students in a side by side program with their typical peers.
Students with special needs qualify for the program on their third birthday. Students without special needs who reach their fourth birthday on or before Sept. 1, 2013, may qualify for the program. Typical candidates will be selected by a lottery system.
Appointments may be made by calling the Special Services office at (413) 743-5202, ext. 1107, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. by Friday, March 8.
The screening requires parents to bring their child and his/her birth certificate to the school.
