The world premiere of "The Beasts," a new chamber opera with original libretto and music by David Anderegg, will be performed in a concert version, sung but not fully staged/acted, at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6, in the sanctuary of First Congregational Church.

The initial premiere scheduled for Feb. 8 was canceled due to weather. A free-will donation will support the music programs of the church and the opera’s production costs.

"The Beasts" features the men’s a cappella group Quintessential, and also features soprano Nellie Rustick; Courtney Getzin, violin; Gwenn Heller, viola; and Richard Mickey, cello. The opera will be conducted by Chris Clark.

The opera might not be suitable for children.
