The Taconic High School Theatre Department will present the musical comedy "City of Angels" at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, March 21, 22 and 23, in the school auditorium on Valentine Road.

"City of Angels" is based on two American creations: jazz and the film literature of the Hollywood private eye.

The play, directed by THS theater teacher Jessica Passetto, is essentially two shows in one with interwoven plots and intermingled worlds that depict the writing of a screenplay in the legendary Hollywood studio system of the 1940s and the re-enactment of that screenplay in a classic "film noir" style.

The musical features a cast of 57 including a quartet called the Angel City Four, a full ensemble, and an 11 piece orchestra under the direction of Luke Olivieri. The play is marked by very fast scene and prop changes, and special effects lighting between the real and the black and white movie world.

General admission tickets are $10. Call (413) 448-9634 or email jpassetto@pittsfield.net for more information and reservations. Tickets will be sold at the door.

Subject matter and language are not suitable for children under 12.
