Dr. Mark Pettus will be speaking from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 16, at Springside Rehabilitation & Skilled Care Center, 255 Lebanon Ave.

Author of the book, "How To Be A Savvy Patient: The Ultimate Advocate For Quality Health Care," the purpose of this program is to have an interactive discussion that identifies the challenges of self-efficacy in modern times.

Participants will learn some basic tools for more effective partnering with health care providers and review the "top five" pearls for self-care in 21st century living.

Pettus serves as chief of medicine at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany, N.Y. He has authored two books and appeared on numerous TV and radio venues nationally including "Good Morning America," NPR and PBS.
