John Kincade, president and CEO of the National Sculptors’ Guild from Loveland, Colo., will give a public lecture titled "The Importance of Public Art" at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, at Lichtenstein Center for the Arts, 28 Renne Ave.
This talk will discuss the economic and aesthetic impact on a city the size of Pittsfield. The lecture is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
Kincade is in Pittsfield to install a bronze sculpture titled "Infinite Dance" in the Pittsfield Common. The sculpture, created by Carol Gold, a nationally recognized sculptor, is being donated to the citizens of Pittsfield by the Pittsfield Garden Tour Committee.
The sculpture will be unveiled and dedicated to Pittsfield at a celebration on the Common at 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12. The public is also invited to meet the artists and celebrate this gift to the city.
