The Berkshire Chapter of the American Guild of Organists is sponsoring an organ crawl on Saturday, Oct. 5, from St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Stockbridge to First Congregational Church in Great Barrington.
The crawl begins at St. Paul’s at 10:15 a.m., and the Great Barrington portion begins at approximately 11:45 a.m. The public is invited at no charge.
Both churches have pipe organs built in the late 1800s by Hildebrand Roosevelt.
Nancy King, organist at St. Paul’s, will give a brief history of that church’s Roosevelt organ and play a short concert to demonstrate the sounds of the instrument.
David Sharpe, organist at First Congregational, will do the same for the pipe organ there.
Other Berkshire Chapter organists have been invited to bring along some music and try out the instruments.
