The GED test, an alternative route to a high school credential, will undergo a change in January 2014. Therefore, the GED Testing Center at Berkshire Community College will offer an enhanced schedule of test dates during the fall semester.
All of the sessions listed below currently have openings available for students who meet the statewide registration deadline of Oct. 18.
Application packets can be obtained by calling the Testing Center at (413) 236-1656; the initial testing fee is $65.
A two morning GED test, offered at BCC’s main campus located at 1350 West St., Pittsfield, is slated for the following dates: Oct. 16-17; Oct. 30-31; Nov. 6-7; and Nov. 13-14. All tests begin at 8:30 a.m.
If enrollment warrants, there will also be a session on Nov. 15-16.
In addition to the Pittsfield sessions, there will also be a test session at MCLA in North Adams on Saturdays, Oct. 26 and Nov. 2.
On Saturdays, Nov. 9 and 16, the GED will be administered at BCC’s South County Center in Great Barrington.
Retest sessions will be offered more frequently this fall as well, to allow students who have taken, but not yet passed the GED, an opportunity to earn their credential on the current version of the test.
Students who began testing as far back as October 2010 may be eligible. Each retest costs $17 per subject attempted.
Retesting sessions will occur on the following dates: Oct. 18-25; Nov. 8, 15, 26; and Dec. 4, 6 10, 11, 13. All start at 8:30 a.m.
To accommodate students with different schedules, there will also be retesting at 5 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 9, and Thursday, Dec. 12, as well as Saturday, Dec. 7, at 1 p.m.
All retesting sessions will be held at BCC’s main campus.
Any student who has not successfully completed the current GED by Dec. 13 will need to begin again on the new test series in January.
