The Berkshire Opioid Abuse Prevention Collaborative, Railroad Street Youth Project and the South Berkshire Community Coalition, a program of Community Health Programs, will present a community forum on Prescription Drug & Heroin Use at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, at Berkshire South Regional Community Center.
The community is welcome to attend.
District Attorney David Capeless will moderate a panel discussion featuring Dr. Jennifer Michaels, medical director of the Brien Center for Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services; Mass. State Police Lt. Brian Foley, commanding officer of the Berkshire Law Enforcement Task Force; Sgt. William Bartini of the Great Barrington Police Department; and a representative of the recovery community.
Panelists will address the proliferation of pain killer prescription drugs, the impact on the community, current efforts to prevent and reduce access, and available treatment options.
Shelley Brooks will present the 2013 Prevention Needs Assessment Survey results.
