The Lebanon Valley Historical Society and the New Lebanon Economic Development Committee announce the grand opening of the Lebanon Valley Heritage Center in the Valley Plaza Mall at noon Saturday, Dec. 7.
The Center will use displays, books, old newspapers and magazines, photographs, paintings and drawings, videos, furniture, and artifacts, to showcase the rich historical and environmental heritage of New Lebanon.
These include the Mount Lebanon Shaker community; the Spa at Lebanon Springs; the birthplace and grave of New York Gov. Samuel J. Tilden, winner of the popular vote in the disputed presidential election of 1876, and more.
The Center will also function as a visitors bureau.
Speakers at the grand opening will include Mike Benson, supervisor of the town of New Lebanon; Steve Oberon, president of the Historical Society, and Max Gitter, chairman of the Economic Development Committee.
