The Department of Conservation & Recreation’s Visitors Museum at Western Gateway Heritage Park will present a dramatic illustrated reading of Washington Irving’s "Old Christmas" at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14.

"Old Christmas" is a collection of five Christmas "sketches" by Washington Irving from his famous Sketch Book. It describes Irving’s experiences at the English country estate of Mr. Bracebridge during the "coaching days" of the early 19th century, focusing on the sights, sounds, smells and traditions of "Old" Christmas.

Western Gateway Heritage State Park is south of the Hadley Overpass on Route 8. The Visitors Museum is in building 4. Information: (413) 663-6312.
