First Baptist Church at 88 South St. will hold a Longest Night Service at 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 22, in its chapel.

This service helps people who for various reasons feel at odds with the general good cheer of this season. Some people feel sad due to losses: death of a loved one; loss of a job; end of a marriage; or suffering from a serious illness.

The evening will consist of readings, prayers and hymns. The public is invited to find comfort in God and with each other.

Enter the church through the side door by the Pittsfield Cooperative Bank.
