The Northern Berkshire Community Coalition will host a training for prescribers living and working in northern Berkshire from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, at Clark House, Conference Room 1, North Adams Regional Hospital.
The training is designed to help prescribers safely and effectively manage patients with chronic pain, when appropriate, with opioid analgesics.
It is also designed to help prescribers assess for risk factors of addiction when working with patients with a family history of substance abuse.
Finally, it is an opportunity to learn about the epidemic of overprescribing.
The training is for physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, physician assistants, dentists, optometrists, podiatrists, and pharmacists.
Professionals attending will receive recertification credit in the various disciplines listed above.
