Multi-generational music will highlight the interfaith celebration of the Martin Luther King Jr. national holiday in South County.

The 15th annual gathering will take place at noon Monday, Jan. 20, in the Parish Hall at First Congregational Church, 251 Main St., followed by a reception at 1 p.m.

Multicultural BRIDGE Youth Corps and the Railroad Street Youth Project, facilitated by Music in Common, will perform their own original song inspired by King’s vision. They will also offer spoken-word poetry.

Wanda Houston and Luci Leonard of Macedonia Baptist Church will perform solos and John Arthur Miller of Christ Church Episcopal and Trinity Lutheran Church, Sheffield, will lead singing of the hymn and the civil rights anthem. Nancy King from CCE and TLC will be the organist.

Clergy participants include the Rev. Charles Van Ausdall, FCC; Rabbi Deborah Zecher, Hevreh of Southern Berkshire; and Ecumenical Minister Cheryl Ann Luft.

Other scheduled speakers include Wray Gunn from the Interfaith Committee of Southern Berkshire.

The Southern Berkshire Clergy Association and the Interfaith Committee invite community members to attend and to bring a nonperishable food item for the People’s Pantry.
