Berkshire Idol, a county-wide fundraising event, has chosen the Minerva Arts Center as this year’s not-for profit recipient in support of its "Build the MAC" project in Williamstown.
MAC most recently operated in the former Incarnation Church in North Adams for 18 months until zoning restrictions made that location not viable.
MAC wishes to continue providing the community with an indoor and outdoor venue that will lend itself to educational and professional use in the arts and interpretive sciences. More information on the project can be found at www.MinervaArtsCenter.org.
Any non-professional vocalist who wishes to participate in the contest should prepare 16 bars of a song, to be sung a capella in a closed audition at one of the following locations:
Saturday, Feb. 8, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Lichtenstein Center for the Arts in Pittsfield; Saturday, Feb. 8, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Berkshire South Regional Community Center in Great Barrington; or Sunday, Feb. 9, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at All Saints Episcopal Church in North Adams.
More information about auditions can be found at http://www.iberkshires.com/berkshireidol.
The Finale Festival will take place May 2 to 4 on the main stage at Barrington Stage Company in Pittsfield.
Businesses and individuals who would like to sponsor Berkshire Idol, support the fundraising efforts for Minerva Arts Center, or volunteer, are encouraged to email BerkshireIdol@gmail.com.
