ADAMS -- Miss Sandra Kupiec of 47 Adam, St., Pittsfield, formerly of Adams, has been selected to attend the National 4-H Conference in Washington, D.C., April 18 to 24. Each state sends two boys and two girls to this annual event. 4-H authorities consider this the highest honor a 4-Her can achieve. Miss Kupiec is the daughter of Mrs. Stanley Ciuk of Adams. She is a graduate of Adams Memorial High School.
NORTH ADAMS -- Samuel F. Kerson, 17, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack E. Kerson of 340 Franklin St., has ended three weeks' leave at his home following his completion of Navy basic training, and reported Saturday at the Naval Air Station at Lakehurst, N.J., to take a parachute rigger's course. He formerly attended Drury High School and before his enlistment worked part-time at the 1896 House in Williamstown and part-time with his father in the operation of the U-Haul Rental Service. 25 years ago today
WILLIAMSTOWN -- Three local figure skaters won medals at the 1989 New England Juvenile Figure Skating Championships at the North Shore Skating Club in Saugus on Feb. 24 and 25. Allison Behr of Williamstown placed first at the pre-intermediate level. Danielle Steele and Shauna Quinn, also of Williamstown, placed first and second overall in the Preliminary B event.
WILLIAMSTOWN -- Gary C. Burger, 45, of Williamstown has been named the new Director of the Williamstown Regional Art Conservation Laboratory. He will assume the post on May 1.
The lab, located behind the Clark Art Institute on South Street, serves a group of 35 museums throughout the northeastern United States. It is an independent institution separate from the Clark and Willilams College.

ADAMS -- The 2004 Adams Grade 5-6 All-Star Basketball Travel Team recently won the Adams Tournament with wins over Williamstown, Dalton and the Boys' Club twice. The following are members of the team: Hunter Gaylord, Tyler Lawson, Nick Bourdon, Mike Alibozek, Mike Gancarz, Nate Alibozek, Travis Manning, Nick Aitkens, Robbie Burke, Mike Davis, and Zach Ziemba. Team coaches are Doug Alibozek and Bob Burke.
SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- Kaitlyn Cunningham, a junior at Union, was named Second Team All-Conference this year. Cunningham is the all-time leading scorer in Drury High School history and 16th on Berkshire County's all-time girls' scoring list. Going into the conference tournament weekend, Cunningham led the Dutchwomen in scoring (10 points per game) and rebounding (4.6 rebounds per game, 110 total).
