First Church of Christ on Park Square, 27 East St., will host an art show and open house from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 15, to celebrate its 250th birthday.

The sanctuary will be open for an exhibit by local artists. Both paintings and photographs of the church’s unique architecture will be on display.

In the parlor, there will be a display of a variety of historic documents and photographs including a portion of a sermon written by First Church’s first minister, Thomas Allen, (served 1764-1810) scribed in his own version of shorthand. A vintage stereoscope will also be available as a tool for viewing vintage cards in 3-D.
