Crescendo, a tri-state area community-based music performance organization, will present the U.S. premiere of a 20th-century Latin American Mass, "Misa Andina," by the Chilean composer Jaime Soto León and contemporary sacred choral works by the Norwegian composer Ola Gjeilo.
The concert will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 5, at First Congregational Church, 251 Main St. A pre-concert talk will be given 30 minutes before the concert.
Joining the singers for "Misa Andina" are Carlos Boltes and Scott Hill, The Alturas Duo, who specialize in playing traditional Andean music and modern compositions by Chilean composers.
Latin American soloists Aurelio Domínguez, tenor, and José Sacín, baritone, and several other Andean instrumentalists and singers will also be part of this performance. Christine Gevert will conduct.
Tickets are $30, $10 for children under 18, $45 for premium seating. A special rate is available for groups of 10 or more.
