Joseph Ellis, a scholar of U.S. history, will present a lecture on America’s founding fathers at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 17, in Griffin Hall, room 3, at Williams College.

Ellis is the second annual James MacGregor Burns Distinguished Speaker. His lecture is titled "Leadership at the American Founding." The event is free and open to the public.

Ellis, who currently teaches in the Commonwealth Honors College at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, is the author of seven books on the revolutionary generation. In 2001, he won the Pulitzer Prize for History for his book "Founding Brothers: The Revolutionary Generation."

The event is sponsored by the Program in Leadership Studies.
