Hevreh of Southern Berkshire will welcome Rabbi Michael Latz and Rabbi Debra Kassoff who will be guest speakers during Shabbat services at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 6, at 270 State Road.

Both Latz and Kassoff served as rabbinic interns at Hevreh, while being mentored by Rabbi Deborah Zecher, Hevreh’s rabbi of the past 22 years.

Latz is senior rabbi at Shir Tikva, a progressive Reform Jewish Congregation in Minneapolis, Minn. Kassoff serves as rabbi of Temple Or Hadash in Fort Collins, Colo.

As part of the service, both will talk about their rabbinic work through the prism of Jewish texts. They will also reflect on the current state of the American Jewish community. All are welcome.

On Saturday, June 7, Hevreh will sponsor a "Day of Learning" beginning with a pre-service Learning Session: "Radical Hospitality -- More Than A Warm Welcome" with Latz at 9 a.m. Following morning services at 10 a.m., Kassoff will present "Brachas on the Bima, Candles in the Cotton Fields -- Jewish in the American South."

"Looking For God In All The Right Places" with Rabbi Andrew Klein, takes place after a luncheon hosted by Hevreh. Klein, a former associate rabbi at Hevreh of Southern Berkshire, is rabbi at Temple Habonim in Barrington, R.I., a position he has held since 2007.
