PITTSFIELD — A city man is bring held on $500 bail after pleading not guilty to narcotics charges incurred during a traffic stop Monday.
Eric D. Hunt, 50, of Madison Avenue, pleaded not guilty in Central Berkshire District Court before Judge William Rota to charges of possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, trafficking in cocaine between 18 and 36 grams, and resisting arrest.
According to Massachusetts State Police, troopers pulled a vehicle over at about 1:25 p.m. for an expired inspection sticker.
Pittsfield police arrived to assist with the stop and asked Hunt — who was riding in the back seat — to get out of the vehicle and would he consent to a search, which he did, according to court records.
During the search, police allegedly found plastic bags containing cocaine inside Hunt's sock and in the sleeve of his jacket.
Police estimated the amount of cocaine seized at about 19 grams and found Hunt with $569 in cash.
He is due back in court on Jan. 8.
