PITTSFIELD >> A North Adams man caught stashing about 95 grams of heroin inside a computer tower in his Union Street home last year has been sentenced to up to 4 1/2 years in prison.

Christopher Therrien, 27, was arrested Aug. 18 after the Berkshire County Drug Task Force found a plastic bag with the drugs stashed inside the locked computer tower.

During the search, police also found about $1,500 in cash, a digital scale with heroin residue on it and other dealer paraphernalia.

He told police at the time he had been selling drugs for a little less than a year.

Therrien, who said he holds an associate degree in criminal justice, pleaded guilty in Berkshire Superior Court on Tuesday to one count of heroin trafficking.

Judge John Agostini sentenced him to 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 years at the Massachusetts Correctional Institution at Cedar Junction.
