PITTSFIELD >> A city man who was caught purchasing heroin in a Dunkin' Donuts bathroom last June has been ordered to pay $187 in fines.
Police were conducting surveillance in the area and saw William Kachuk enter the bathroom, along with two other men, after noting apparent drug activity outside the restaurant.
The men emerged shortly after and were arrested after being found with heroin.
Kachuk pleaded guilty in Berkshire Superior Court on Wednesday before Judge John Agostini to a lone count of possession of heroin.
A charge of conspiracy to violate drug laws against Kachuk was dropped by the state.
Earlier in the week, a co-defendant in the case, Nicholas Konton, 25, pleaded guilty in Berkshire Superior Court to five counts of distribution of heroin, two counts of possession of heroin with intent to distribute, four counts of drug violations within a drug-free school zone and four counts of conspiracy to violate drug laws.
Konton was sentenced to 4 1/2 to 5 1/2 years in prison.
