NORTH ADAMS — A former paraprofessional at Hoosac Valley Middle and High School faced allegations Wednesday that he sexted a 15-year-old student.

Samuel Prudhomme, 21, of Adams, sent the unnamed juvenile a lewd picture via Snapchat, a mobile phone application, according to investigators.

In other messages, Prudhomme allegedly depicted himself partially clothed in his bedroom and naked in the shower, according to a criminal complaint filed by Massachusetts State Police Sgt. Stephen Jones.

A friend of the juvenile reported the messages to a school guidance counselor, prompting administrators to interview the alleged victim, who provided administrators with copies of conversations with Prudhomme, according to police.

Prudhomme is no longer employed by the district, the police report notes.

The victim met Prudhomme at a school function and they began texting, according to the report. The exchange started innocently, but became sexual in nature, according to the police report. They only texted and did not meet or talk in person.

The juvenile did not respond with sexual pictures and told Prudhomme he or she was not ready to do so. Prudhomme is not accused of directly asking the juvenile for explicit images, but did request them in a "roundabout manner," such as "I need new visual material," according to the report.

School administrators confirmed to police that the phone number in question belonged to Prudhomme, the report states.

Prudhomme pleaded not guilty in Northern Berkshire District Court on Wednesday to a single count of disseminating obscene material to a minor. He was released on personal recognizance by Judge Paul Smyth on the condition that he avoid contact with the victim.

He is scheduled to appear in court on June 20 for a pretrial hearing.

School officials could not be reached for comment.
