PITTSFIELD — A dangerousness hearing for the man police believe opened fire on Pecks Road last week has been rescheduled to Friday.

The hearing to determine if Patrick Coyne, 34, could be released and under what conditions was originally scheduled for Tuesday in Central Berkshire District Court.

Coyne is being held without bail pending that hearing.

Coyne's attorney, Anthony Gianacopoulos, requested the continuance Tuesday and also asked for his client to be evaluated for competency.

Coyne is accused of opening fire at traffic at 1:37 p.m. May 19 at the intersection of Wahconah Street and Pecks Road.

No one was injured in that incident, police said.

Coyne was apprehended soon afterward and was arraigned the following day on multiple weapons charges.

That shooting was among three that city police had responded to in about a 17-hour period.

Anyone with information about any of the shooting incidents in the city is asked to contact the Pittsfield Police Detective Bureau at 413-448-9700.
