PITTSFIELD — Bail has been revoked for a city man, described by prosecutors as a "pretty significant drug dealer," after he was arrested Monday on new narcotics charges.

Lexus T. Perez, 22, was out on bail on a pair of open narcotics cases — one out of Berkshire Superior Court, the other out of Suffolk County — when he was allegedly caught making a drug deal.

"(Perez) can not and will not abide by the law," Assistant Berkshire District Attorney Dana Parsons said on Tuesday, arguing for the revocation.

Perez was arrested last October in Pittsfield on charges of cocaine possession with intent to distribute and conspiracy to violate drug laws.

In May, investigators received information that Perez was selling crack cocaine and heroin in the area.

In late May and early June, investigators arranged a pair of controlled purchases of drugs from Perez as well as surveillance.

On Monday, members of the Berkshire County Drug Task Force spotted Perez making a suspected drug deal inside of a vehicle in which he was the passenger.

Police stopped the person believed to have purchased drugs and they allegedly admitted to purchasing $40 worth of crack from Perez after making arrangements via phone to do so.

A search of the vehicle found $2,000 cash and three cellphones.

Perez was taken into custody and searched at the Berkshire Jail and House of Correction.

That search recovered a bag containing eight smaller bags of crack cocaine, 46 white wax bags of heroin stamped with the word "Fendi" and approximately $300 cash.

Parsons estimated the combined value of the drugs and cash seized at about $3,077.

Perez pleaded not guilty in Central Berkshire District Court on Tuesday to his new charges of possession of a Class B drug with the intent to distribute, possession of a Class A drug with intent to distribute and distribution of a Class B drug.

Judge William Rota set bail in Perez's new case at $10,000 in addition to revoking his bail on his older matters and set a pretrial hearing date of June 29.
