NORTH ADAMS >> Mister Tire will soon be back in business, but under new ownership.
The 558 Curran Memorial Highway business was closed in June by owner Larry Davis, but a Vermont-based company has purchased the facility effective July 1.
Vianor, Inc., based in Essex Junction, is a small chain with 10 locations throughout New England that focuses on tire sales and auto repairs, President Jason Phelps wrote in a June 16 application to the city Planning Board.
The company plans to replace the signage and paint the facade of the Mister Tire building in July before opening on Aug. 1. The company also will construct a new customer waiting area.
In the summer of 2017, the other three sides of the building will also be painted, according to the letter.
"Mister Tire has been serving the North Adams area at their current location since 1992," Phelps wrote. "Vianor will continue to offer drive-thru service of tires and vehicle alignments under our new ownership."
Owner Larry Davis operated Mister Tire for 38 years before deciding to retire earlier this year.
Vianor will offer all current Mister Tire employees a job and plans to add two more people to the staff before the fall, while a current Vianor employee will transfer from Vermont to North Adams to manage the new location.
Mister Tire has previously been listed on Vianor's website as a "partner."
Pending planning board approval, the business is slated to open in August and will have hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday.
Phelps could not be reached for comment on Thursday.
The Planning Board public hearing is scheduled for July 11.
