PALMER -- The McCann Tech football team lost its first game of the 2012 season on Friday night to Pathfinder, 31-6.
After a season-opening win over Ware, 18-6, in Week 1 at home, the offense wasn’t able to find the same rhythm it had in the second half against Ware. The defense, which was a strong point in Week 1, had its weaknesses exploited against Pathfinder in the passing game.
This is the first loss for McCann since it lost in last year’s Division IV Western Massachusetts Super Bowl to Pioneer.
With 1:57 left to go in the first half, McCann was enjoying a 6-0 lead, but Pathfinder scored on consecutive offensive plays to take a 13-6 lead into halftime.
In the second half, Pathfinder controlled the ball and limited the chances McCann could generate. Pathfinder, coach Bob LeClair said, ran the ball over the Hornets late.
