PITTSFIELD -- The Pittsfield boys and girls cross country teams each scored wins Wednesday afternoon at Reid Middle School.
The PHS girls defeated Berkshire Arts and Technology school 15-50. The boys’ team took home wins over Taconic, 19-44, and BART, 15-50.
The Wahconah boys were also 2-0 on Wednesday, defeating BART and St. Joseph’s by identical 15-50 scores. The Taconic boys also picked up a win over BART, 15-50. But BART did defeat St. Joseph’s, 15-50.
On the girls side, Taconic defeated BART 15-50 and St. Joseph’s 21-40. The Wahconah girls won twice, 15-50 over Wahconah and 28-41 over St. Joseph’s. The Crusader girls defeated BART 20-35.
The General girls team was a bit more overpowering in their race, with their top four runners finishing 1-2-3-4. Lauren Farry won the race in 20:18. Teammate Mackenzi Powers was second in 22:28, Makayla Powers third in 22:29 and Lisa Smith fourth in 23:07. Kelsey Magri led Taconic with a fifth-place finish overall in 23:13. Kate Murphy’s 23:33 in sixth place was the Crusaders’ best, while MacKenzie Rice was eighth for Wahconah in 23:37. Sammi Beveraggi was 44th for BART in 29:28.
On the boys’ side, Dan Brien’s 9:27 led the Generals. He edged Wahconah’s Jackson Alberti, who was second in 18:23. Taconic’s top finisher was Mike Wheaton, 14th place in 19:44. Dylan Quinn’s 33rd place finish led BART.
NORTH ADAMS -- Granby and Pioneer, perennial cross-country powers, both scored wins over the Hornet boys and girls cross country teams.
Granby defeated the McCann boys 19-38 and the girls 23-30. Pioneer took home wins over the boys, 19-38 and the girls 15-46.
Justin Schneider led the McCann boys with a third-place finish in 18:46. Mike Moreno (22:09) was 12th, Mitchell Garner (22:14) 13th, Luke Yelle (23:43) 16th and Brandon Smith (24:43) 18th.
In the girls’ race, Zoe Loughman finished ninth in 24:35 to lead the Hornets. Sarah Purcells was 10th in 25:50, while Laura Netti was 13th in 26:52 and Sophie Oliveri 14th, also in 26:52.
